K-ON! Mio Wall Paper

Sunday, April 12th, 2009

While watching the OP of K-ON a certain image caught my eye and brought me out of vectoring retirement. So I present Akiyama Mio of K-ON! wallpaper in 2 versions and 2 formats. Too bad it only comes in once size… 1280×800 since that is how big my desktop is.

Favorite Moments in recent Anime

Monday, January 5th, 2009

With the new year I figured I should write something remembering past memories, and what better way to do it with something I love. All of the following scenes have stirred some emotion in me, and if you know me I probably expressed it so out loud every single time I re-watched them (probably about 50 times each). So without further delay, here were some of my favorite moments in anime within the past year that I could think off the top of my head in some order where the ones at the bottom should be my most treasured moments that are not mine.

ps. bare with some videos not being up yet, they are still encoding.

Wagaya no Oinari Sama ED2

I swear to god I can’t get enough of this:

‘Shiawase no Kotodama’

as you guessed it, it’s sung by Kuu’s, Kou’s, and Tama-chan’s seiyuus. The part around 0:17 with Kou is probably what does it for me. I also like the animated manga versions of the characters over the current TV series designs.

By: Kana Asumi, Kaori Mizuhashi, Ryoko Shintani & Yuko Goto (Hidamari Sketch main cast)

There is something addicting about this opening song. Usually I don’t like this kind of music (happy beat with screaming little girl voices), but it is really catchy. Especially the whistle and screaming WAISSHO DESU!

Sounds like another marble song. I still their kimikiss song Aozora loop better. Oh well.

Ahahaha, that old librarian guy was fucking hilarious.

More notable, the female lead, Haruka Nogizaka is played my Mamiko Noto (Nodoka – Negima!?, Yakumo – School Rumble, Emma AI – Jigoku Shoujo). Though her voice is getting a bit played out for my tastes.

Something about this story just urks me. It’s probably the fact that the Haruka has to hide her hobby, meaning she is concerned about her popularity. I guess Yuto likes her because he is disgusted with girls who don’t care, like his sister and his teacher. What a poop face. I myself prefer the latter.

Thoughts

Holy crap. This episode had a lot of what I like: hot girl, aliens, fight scenes, good animation, and someone died in the first episode (kinda…). Whatever the case, I’ll be watching and most likely finishing this anime for the first 3 reasons.

I must comment that the character designs are quite to my liking. There is something about the smoothness of the way they are drawn and animated that glues my eyes to watching every second of the episode, or maybe it was Birdy’s Suit.

While awesomely ridiculous, the story is pretty cool. Though even if I was a space cop, you would have to pay me a shit-ton to get me to lay undercover in a backwoods planet for so many years. I’m also very interested in seeing the next episode to figure out why Senkawa did not die. He’s probably a robot, or a part of Birdy (maybe her suit?). But that still doesn’t explain why hes able to walk around freely during the day time.

Thoughts

Vowing never to read a manga before watching the anime (actually I’m just to lazy to read or buy it) or looking up history of an anime before watching it (basically taking the anime as is), the premise of World Destruction was interesting enough for me to keep watching. It also helped that the story was jam packed with action and quick to introduce with what looks like the 3 of the 6 main characters. Hopefully Production I.G. will be able to keep up the pace for 13 episodes.

Aside form that there were a couple of scenes that i got me laughing out loud to the point where my roommates think I’m crazy (not that they don’t already). I expect to see some fairly good comedy throughout the series now that I found out that Mamoru Miyano (Death the Kid – Soul Eater, Zero – Vampire Knight) who usually plays hard-ass rolls is playing the main protagonist Kyrie (whose roll seems to be very comedic).

Well, I also got to say, they cut a lot of corners with the animation of the first episode. There were some scenes that looked so poor that I didn’t even have to pause the video to spot them on the first run. Even though the scenes were horrible, the fights made up for it… Kinda. Regardless I’ll still be following World Destruction.
